So, it's a smooth ride on the down escalator?

 

Nope. Everything worthwhile is costly, and the most worthwhile endeavor in all of history is new life in Christ for eternity. Our Lord Jesus offers us phenomenal rewards for living our life as if Jesus would live our life if He were me/you. 

But He said that our new life would not be easy. Old friends and family may scoff at us. Satan and his motley gang will try to trip us up. The world will try to persecute and even hate us. But God's Word says, "Greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world. Jesus promises never to leave us--to walk with us throughout any storm we go through.

So instead of a smooth ride on the down escalator, it's rather like fighting your way UP a down escalator, saying NO to temptations, NO to bad advice, NO to the garbage the devil and the world throw at us.
